September 22, 2008

The pink rubber duck, a commonly used symbol in the fight against breast cancer, gets a glam makeover in Malaysia this Fall in the “Passionately Pink” fund raising campaign for breast cancer awareness and research.During the 2-month-long campaign, events such as a duck beauty pageant and a bake sale will be held, but don’t miss the celebrity duck auction with custom decorated pink rubber ducks. The pink rubber ducks, whose tag line is “Don’t Duck a Breast Exam”, have been decked out in everything from feathers to gemstones by Malaysian celebrities, and will be auctioned off during the campaign. At least 6 celebrity ducks will be auctioned in the event. To check out the celebrity ducks, head to the Passionately Pink Gallery at Palm Square, Jaya One in Malaysia.

One of the goals of the campaign is to raise more than RM100,000 ($28,000 US) to fund the Breast Cancer Community Treatment Programme at the Assunta Hospital.
